Galatians 6:2-5…2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. 5 For each one will bear his own load.
In today’s world, there are many people with burdens to bear. In our Sunday School class this week we have multiple people with health problems and one couple with family living in Callaway, Fl., one of the hardest hit areas by hurricane Michael, they cannot contact them.
The bitter controversies around politics, social policy, patriotism, and other issues have isolated people into tribes without a way to carry on civil conversations. But people hurting need our help and Paul said we are to help according to the law of Christ. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” A Jesus loved with agape love and we are to love one another in the family of God and our enemies and those that persecute us with the same agape love.
In v.2 Paul tells us to of assisting others carrying burdens too heavy for one person to bear. In v.5 load refers to something that one person can carry. Each person has the responsibility to carry the load or burdens they can carry.
We can pray that people carry the loads they can carry and when the burden is too heavy that Disciples will step up and help with agape love.
