A-  Adoration and praising the Lord – Prayer using the ACTS acronym –

Daniel 9:4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed and said, “Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,

After preparing for prayer in v.3 Daniel begins with the “A’ of the ACTS acronym.

v.4b Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God,

Daniel starts with adoration and praise to the great and awesome God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He is Omnipresent- everywhere all the time; Omniscient- He has complete knowledge of everything: past, present, and future; Omnipotent- all-powerful; Omnisapient- all wise and know what is best for me, and Omniattendant- constantly attentive to His children.

v.4c. who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness

God is holy and faithful to keep His covenants and is all-caring; full of love, goodness, mercy, and grace while being wrathful toward sin. He has exchanged Disciples sin for His righteousness through Jesus. This gave the Disciple eternal victory over the penalty of sin at salvation and we now have the power available to us of self-control to avoid daily sin.

v.4d. for those who love Him and keep His commandments,

God said through Paul; For the love of Christ compels us,…15 And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised. [2 Corinthians 5:14-15 CSB] and through John; “If you love Me you will keep My commandments.” [John 14:15] and For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. And His commands are not a burden,” [1 John 5:3 CSB] and through Mark, Jesus said: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” [Mark 12:30-31]

Does your prayer begin with strong statements about the greatness of Almighty God? [Revelation 4:8b,11]
