David said “fear not” to Mephibosheth –

2 Samuel 9:6-7a.. Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and prostrated himself. And David said, “Mephibosheth.” And he said, “Here is your servant!David said to him, “Do not fear,

Imagine Mephibosheth’s mindset as he went into the presence of the king of Israel. He had been in hiding for at least 15 years after the death of his grandfather Saul and father Jonathan and likely did know of the covenant between David and Jonathan. He must have been experiencing some fear.  I wonder if I approach the all-powerful God, creator of the universe Who gave His Son for my sins with a healthy fear or reverence.

Mephibosheth fell on his face and said: “Here is your servant! Then he heard some of the most repeated words in the Bible, Do not fear.” Here David says this but in other places, Triune God and angels say “Fear not”, or “Do not be afraid”, “Do not fear.”   Many years ago I did a study on “Fear not.” A  I have never been the same after this study but examination and repentance is daily required because my 3 enemies- my flesh, Satan and the world system, tempt me to be fearful, worry and bitter.  Jesus knew me when He said; “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” B

Fear not, but trust in the Armor of God all the time! Triune God is present in my life wherever I go and whatever my circumstances!
