Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Foretells His death, Initiates the Lords Supper and Predicts His betrayal. A Jesus turns to comforting the 11 disciples, describing His expectations of them and their relations to each other. Jesus promised: access to the God the Father through the name of Jesus in prayer, the Holy Spirit as comforter, guide, teacher, fruit giving power as the Vine [Jesus] and great joy to the obedient. B
Then He turned to their relationship with the world.
John 15:18-27.. 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you;…
The world hated and persecuted Jesus and the fruit producing Disciple today can expect that a large percentage of the population and world system will reject, hate and persecute you. C We must not be afraid or discouraged but trust in God just as Joshua was commanded before crossing the Jordan River D and Jesus told His Disciples “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,…I am with you always, even to the end of the age”. E
Jesus makes these promises to His Disciples then and today as we face disbelief, rejection and persecution. Never Quit! Finish strong depending one day at time on Jesus! Let your desire above all else be to keep all His commandments.
