The New Testament uses the language of the priesthood to speak of Jesus Who relates to the Leviticus priest in 3 ways:
The priests offered sacrifices for sin, and Jesus offered up the perfect sacrifice for sin–His own body one time forever [Hebrews 7:27; 9:12, 24-28; 10:1-2, 10, 12, 14; 13:12).
The priests helped the people draw closer to God, and Jesus is the one way for us to have an eternal relationship with God [John 1:4, 3:16, 4:14, 10:9, 11:25,14:6, Hebrews 2:17-18, 6:19-20; 10:19-22, 1 John 5:20].
The priests were intermediaries between the people and God, and Jesus is our High Priest and mediator providing access to the Father on our behalf [1 John 2:1-2, Romans 8:34; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25].
I hope you will spend time meditating on the passages above and be thankful for Jesus as Savior, and your High Priest. He guarantees His disciples access to God all the time.
Lift your prayer up to God and thank Him for His Son Jesus as our High Priest.
Henry Luke 11/15/2017
